Not only evolution but also conservation: it is from these concepts that the new Molteni 2021 collection is born. The careful study of drawings, photos and period materials sets the rules for preserving and conserving timeless furnishings. This is how two Gio Ponti projects enrich the Heritage collection: the Round D.154.5 armchair and the D.847.1 console. The first, designed in 1954, has modern shapes and used state-of-the-art materials and technologies for the construction of the time. The second, part of the "bedroom for a bachelor" project, instead brings to light a forgotten masterpiece, dictated by the high craftsmanship of solid wood processing. Furniture already present in the Molteni collection undergoes a "natural" evolution due to careful research and interpretation of the needs of contemporary living, where domestic spaces are versatile and multifunctional. A new collection that pays homage and draws inspiration from the shapes, rules, details and color palettes of two great protagonists of the Modern Movement and Rationalism: Ignazio Gardella and Carlo Scarpa. This is the common thread that led to the total reinterpretation of one of the Molteni icons: the new 505 UP system. Characterized by an elegant alternation of thicknesses and volumes and by the new overhanging "display" compartments, the iconic 505 system expands the compositional possibilities. From system, 505 UP also becomes sideboard: a series of configurable containers, on the ground or on a base, which can be inserted in the living area or in the sleeping area. The Hector bookcase, designed by Vincent Van Duysen in 2020, evolves into Hector Night, characterized by a strong modern and flexible expressive character. A walk-in closet with vertical metal elements that allow it to be positioned on the wall or in the center of the room to adapt to every need. An absolute novelty for Molteni is Marteen: a multifunctional seating and storage system that rewrites the experience of the living area, contaminating the traditional types of seating with freer and more informal lifestyles. Molteni's commitment to the environment leads to the introduction of a new eco-sustainable cushions: a synthetic fiber in 100% recycled and biodegradable polyester, currently available for the Paul sofa cushions. Still with a view to sustainability, Molteni also presents a new collection of fabrics in 100% recycled yarn from PET bottles: an ideal solution for those looking for a fabric with a reduced environmental impact.Molteni
